Climate change and global warming are two of the most crucial issues facing our world today. And regrettably, it is we humans, who have only ourselves to question about this. The environmental imbalance and the question of sustainability looms large on the horizon and is an overwhelming shadow, a constant reminder of what we have done and what we have to do to prevent annihilation.
‘Our personal consumer choices have ecological, social, and spiritual consequences. It is time to re examine some of our deeply held notions that underlie our lifestyles.’- David Suzuki
An introspection of our choices and their repercussions, our commitments and our understanding of the world, will reveal answers that we may find difficult to come to terms with.
Thus, a conscious choice has to be made by each and every person to do what is right for the world. In this respect, we look up to an intergovernmental organisation such as the United Nations to be the harbinger of the changes which will heal the world and restore dignity, peace and harmony to Mother Earth.
And while, the iconic leaders of various nations discuss and negotiate at their level to provide an impetus to saving the world, we, the people, too have our own set of responsibilities. To inculcate a spirit of enquiry and a thirst for knowledge among the young citizens is what we at the VIBGYOR Group earnestly strive for. Our pleasure as educationists doubles when we see our incredible youth rise above themselves to grapple with such adverse impacts on our world. To watch them passionately and firmly take a stand, discuss with their peers, resolve to bring about tremendous change, and even form lifelong friendships along the way, are the varied joys of attending the VHMUN as an observer.
Here’s wishing the organising team, the Secretariat, the Executive Board, the delegates and faculty members, a purposeful VHMUN 7.
